Sam Houston Park is one of my favorite parks in downtown Houston, Texas, and was developed in 1900. It is the first park in Houston. One of Houston’s early mayors, Sam Brashier, purchased the land for the park. 

The result is a treasure for the city of Houston. Not only will you find buildings representative of many eras, but you can learn a lot about the early immigrants who made Houston their home, as well as how diverse the city was even then. There is also an impressive mansion in the park dating back to 1905.

Oh yes, if you can, you must! Located at the Marriott Marquis Houston, this is not only enjoyable but also a great way to escape the heat and relax. But if not, they offer day passes starting at $50 for this one-of-a-kind experience. The hotel is centrally located downtown across from the George R. Brown Convention Center.
