Hi, I’m Lisa, and I believe the world is more beautiful than we often realize. My travels have taken me to incredibly beautiful places that people dream of, but I have also found astounding beauty in a field full of bluebonnets in Texas. This perspective has been shaped by my travels and experiences, which I hope will inspire you, too. This About Followsoots will give you more insight into how Followsoots.com came to be.
That’s not a tagline. It’s something I’ve personally learned and want to share with you after visiting more than 50 countries across five continents.
I’ve photographed so many pretty places such as autumn forests, sun-drenched coastlines, and quiet European canals at dawn before the rest of the world woke up.
And every single time, in every country, every season, every ordinary and extraordinary moment, beauty found me. Not because I was looking in the right places. But because I learned to look at everything.
That’s what I want for you too. That’s what FollowSoots is for-building a community where we celebrate beauty and storytelling together.
A Camera, a Little Girl, and a Love Story That Never Ended
My relationship with Photography didn’t begin in a far-flung destination or with a fancy camera and a dream of becoming a travel photographer.
It began with my daughter.
My youngest was terrified of department store photography studios. Instead of forcing her, I picked up a camera to genuinely capture her, which taught me the importance of authentic moments.
That first attempt to photograph a little girl who didn’t want her picture taken taught me something I’ve never forgotten: the best photographs happen when your subject forgets the camera is there.
I’ve been chasing that kind of photograph ever since.
My Professional Background
My Radio and Television degree helped me develop composition and visual storytelling skills. Luckily for me, I was able to translate it beautifully into my real estate career. I started photographing properties and creating video tours because most agents at the time had no idea how to create them.
Of course, this became my first side hustle. Creating property photography and video tours for agents who understood that beautiful images sell homes and were willing to pay someone who knew how to make them.
But it was the traveling that changed everything.
Long before FollowSoots existed, before I called myself a travel photographer, a blogger, or a lifestyle creator, my family and I were exploring together. Road trips and international adventures and all the beautiful in-between moments that happen when you pack up the people you love most and go somewhere new. My camera came everywhere. It always had.
By the time I launched FollowSoots and began traveling extensively with my husband across five continents, the Photography was already second nature. The camera was already an extension of how I experience places.
That’s the photographer behind these images.
Not someone who just picked up a camera to become a travel photographer, but someone who has always seen the world through a lens and shares authentic, heartfelt stories that inspire you to find beauty in your own life.
How a Travel Blog Became Something So Much Bigger
FollowSoots didn’t begin with a fully formed mission statement, a content strategy, and a clear vision of what it would become. It began the way most things worth doing arrive, gradually, then all at once.
It started as a travel blog. A place to share the destinations I was visiting, the photographs I was taking, the stories that were accumulating faster than I could tell them. I had spent years exploring the world with a camera and a genuine, unshakeable sense of wonder at how beautiful everything was.
I wanted to share that. Simply and honestly and with as much of the actual feeling intact as words and photographs could carry.
But somewhere along the way, in the writing, the photographing, and the connecting with readers who were finding their way to FollowSoots from all over the world, something interesting happened.
I realized that what I was really doing was never just about travel.
It was about beauty. And the many different forms it takes in a life fully lived.

FollowSoots exists to help you do exactly that.
It has grown from a travel blog into something I honestly couldn’t have imagined when I wrote the first post: a community of women who love beautiful things and believe, as I do, that seeking out beauty is not a frivolous pursuit. It’s a way of moving through the world with your eyes genuinely open.
I’m so glad you found your way here.
This place was built for you.

Why I Share What I Share
I believe beauty changes the way we experience life.
Travel expands our perspective.
Words shape our mindset.
Imagery influences our environment.
When you intentionally surround yourself with beautiful inspiration, you start living differently. More aware, more grateful, and more open to possibilities.
I came to Photography because of my family through a little girl who didn’t want her picture taken in a department store studio, and a mother who picked up a camera and fell completely in love with what she found on the other side of the lens.
I taught people for years how to find their creative side, see beauty in the world around them, and make something meaningful of it. FollowSoots is an extension of that work in a different form. The students have changed, and the classroom has no walls, but the intention is exactly the same.
To help you see what I see.
To show you that beauty is everywhere; in the extraordinary places and the perfectly ordinary ones; and that a life spent noticing it, seeking it out, and surrounding yourself with it is a life genuinely, deeply well lived.
That’s what gets me out of bed every morning.
That and a Diet Mountain DEW!😊
