La Boqueria Market is a site to behold, with its vibrant colors, fragrances and flavors. This bustling market features mouthwatering ingredients, fresh seafood and an array of cured meats that will make your taste buds tingle. Sample juicy fruits, aromatic cured meats and a variety of Spanish delicacies among traditional butchers and cheese vendors who offer up samples. Enjoy a plate of fried calamares or pick up some olives to snack on during your visit. Definitely one of the best places to visit in Barcelona.

One of my favorite things to do in Barcelona is admiring Antoni Gaudi’s magnificent architectural masterpieces. Many of his creations are at the top of most lists of the best places to visit in Barcelona. Casa Battló and Casa Mila are unlike any residential architecture I have ever seen. For this reason they are always on the top beautiful places to visit in Barcelona.

Casa Batlló, designed by Antoni Gaudí, is an architectural marvel located on the famous Passeig de Gràcia. With its distinctive orange and blue facades and curved balconies, it stands out from all other buildings in the area. Inside, many of the unique features of Catalan Modernism are reflected through intricate ceiling designs and beautiful stained glass windows. Taking a guided tour of this beautiful building is sure to be one of your most memorable experiences in Barcelona!

If you have time head over to Casa Mila after your visit to Casa Batlló. It’s just 2 blocks away. Best known for its curved balconies and sand-blasted façade, Casa Mila offers an incredible perspective of the city once you reach the top. Not only can you enjoy Barcelona’s beautiful skyline from afar, but you can also have a closer look at the building’s dynamic forms. The awesome view from within Casa Mila is truly one of a kind and it is definitely one off the most beautiful places to see in Barcelona.

La Sagrada Família

The Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s crown jewel, is beyond description. Words fall short to describe the wonder you see with your eyes when you enter this magnificent Basillica. The way the light and colors shine and move throughout the building is awe-inspiring. Of course, Antoni Gaudi, died before he could complete this masterpiece, in 1926. And while it has been a painstakingly long process, the city of Barcelona has managed to slowly bring Gaudi’s vision to life in the almost completed Sagrada Familia. (As of September 2022)

Park Güell

Spending time in Park Güell will truly enlighten you as to the genius Antioni Gaudi was. His innovative yet simplistic design was far ahead of his time. Probably the reason it is revered far more today, than when he was alive.

Park Güell is renowned for its imaginative designs, which combine nature and architecture in uniquely creative ways. The famous mosaic-covered benches designed by Gaudí are stunning works of art, while enchanting pathways lined with palm and pine trees create a magical atmosphere. Visitors can also explore the ornate dragon-guarded entrance gates and other whimsical architectural creations in this unforgettable park.

Barcelona Cathedral

Barcelona Cathedral is a beautiful structure built near the heart of the city. Dedicated to Saint Eulalia, it stands out with its Gothic architecture and elegant churchyard offering stunning views of the surrounding area. Dating back to 1298, the main building was extended to accommodate more chapels and bell towers over the centuries. Inside lies a sacred treasure trove filled with artwork, tapestries, and mosaics as well as intricate wooden altarpieces.

Another of the best places to visit in Barcelona is the Palau National of Barcelona. Not only is it he the world-renowned cultural hub of the city, but the historical one as well! From the impressive Baroque architecture of the palace to the opulent fountain, you will be captivated by the wonders that await you in this remarkable complex.

Plaça d’Espanya

After a day exploring Montjüic or before, check ou the Plaça d’Espanya. It was created in 1929 when the International Exhibition of Barcelona transformed this area of the city into one of the most beautiful squares in Barcelona. Surrounded by a charming mix of nature, art, and grandiose buildings, be sure to pay a visit to its iconic Magic Fountain. Every evening from April to October, this fountain puts on an impressive display set to music and light shows for visitors and locals alike.
