San Antonio is one of the top destinations in Texas. It’s not only a gorgeous city, but it offers so much to do and see. Not to mention, history buffs, adventure seekers, and families will all find things to make them happy! I have assembled this Scenic Spots in San Antonio post to inspire your next vacation.
San Antonio features well-preserved historic buildings, the fabulous Riverwalk, and top theme parks, like SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Additionally, you will find numerous parks, green spaces, and hiking and biking trails. Plus, there are so many excellent restaurants, food trucks, and breweries to choose from.
Also, while this great city is known for the Alamo, there are four more Missions to explore. As a bonus, they are all part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. Best Time to Visit San Antonio
Before booking your plane tickets, let’s discuss the best time to enjoy San Antonio.
Having lived in Texas for most of my life, I can guarantee that summer is not the best time to visit San Antonio. It is hot! Unless you enjoy hot climates, this time of year is not ideal.
San Antonio is excellent from mid-October through November. Of course, while it gets cool, December through the New Year is also beautiful. This is because the San Antonio Riverwalk is gorgeous during the holiday season.
February through early May is also a great time because the spring flowers are in full bloom, and the heart of the summer has not arrived.
Beautiful Places in San Antonio
The Riverwalk
Strolling along the River Walk is one of the best ways to enjoy one of the most scenic spots in San Antonio. With restaurants, shops, and historical landmarks lining its banks, there is plenty to keep you busy.
This iconic urban waterway is a stage for local festivities and a tranquil escape from the buzz of city life. The absolute best thing to do is to take a river cruise during evening hours when the pathways are romantically lit and the water shimmers with reflections of San Antonio’s nightlife.
The Alamo
Of course, you have not visited San Antonio unless you visit the Alamo. This historic place is a tribute to the power of bravery and sacrifice of those who gave their lives defending this historic mission.
This symbol of Texas freedom tells a story of a pivotal battle, etched deeply into the spirit of all who visit. Don’t miss the opportunity to pay homage to the heroes and witness their legacy firsthand. Nearby lies the vibrant plaza, where one can often find Texas culture reenactments and celebrations.
San Antonio Missions National Historical Park
Many know the story of the Alamo, but did you know that there are four additional missions to explore in San Antonio? The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is essential for history buffs and spiritual seekers. The San Antonio Missions are the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Texas. If the best scenic spots in San Antonio are what you want to find, then these missions need to be on your list.

The Japanese Tea Garden is by far one of the most beautiful places in San Antonio. Because of its beauty and peacefulness, it deserves to be on any San Antonio bucket list.

Now that we’ve enjoyed San Antonio from the ground, why not take the opportunity to see it from above? For some fantastic aerial views of San Antonio, you must visit the Tower of the Americas, an iconic 750-foot-tall observation tower. The tower was originally built for the 1968 World’s Fair and has remained a staple of the San Antonio skyline ever since.
While visiting the Tower of Americas, you can check out the stunning panoramic city views from the observation deck. Then, you can indulge in a dining experience at its revolving restaurant. Plus, there’s Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger, Poltergeist, and the Road Runner Express, and this is just a short list of thrill rides at Fiesta Texas.
Fiesta Texas also features live shows and year-round events. Numerous and exciting rides for the kids, rides the whole family can enjoy, and fun food and shopping!
Seaworld San Antonio
Another must-visit attraction is Seaworld San Antonio, where you can get up close and personal with marine life. Enjoy shows featuring dolphins, sea lions, orcas, and more.

Every time I visit San Antonio, I visit King William. I love historic homes, and there are some true gems hidden here, and even the street signs are vintage. If you decide to visit, bring your camera and capture the charm of this well-preserved district. Of course, these are private homes, so respect the owner’s privacy and don’t get too close or take photos of those living here.
Pearl Farmers Market
