Take Advantage of the Houston City Pass

The most economical way to see the most popular attractions in Houston is with the Houston City Pass. It includes access to Space Center Houston, the Downtown Aquarium, the Houston Zoo, the Houston Museum of Natural Science and more. The pass is great because it can be modified to appeal to families traveling with children or couples and solo travelers.
Walk or Bike through Downtown Houston
There is so much to explore in Downtown Houston. Strolling along Buffalo Bayou is one of my favorite things to do. It is a peaceful retreat in such a large city Mecca. You can also get to many of the parks, museums and art centers as well. Tranquility Park , the Wortham Theater Center, the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts and Sam Houston Park are a few nearby. You will also find easy access to coffee shops and restaurants.
Explore Discovery Green

Another fun thing to do in Houston is to visit Discovery Green . It’s beautiful downtown park that features art exhibits, live performances, trails to explore and playgrounds. You can also take free exercise classes or just enjoy reading your favorite book.
Float in the one and only Texas Shaped Lazy River

Oh yes, if you can, you must! Located at the Marriott Marquis Houston, is this enjoyable, great way to escape the heat, and relax. The 6th floor pool deck also includes a full size pool, Jacuzzi, cabana rentals and a full bar service. All of this is included if you are staying at the Marriott Marquis. But if not, they offer day passes starting at $50 for this one of a kind experience. The hotel is centrally located downtown across from the George R Brown Convention Center. It’s within walking distance of Minute Maid Park and many other downtown attractions. Of course this is one of my favorite fun things to do in Houston, Texas.

Eat, Eat, Eat!
Houston is probably one of the best places to eat in the United States. Not only is there a tremendous variety of flavors from all over the world, the food is good. It is also relatively inexpensive to dine in Houston compared to other large cities. Home grown franchises like Landry’s and Pappa’s offer an enormous variety of Texas, Cajun and Seafood favorites and their service is exceptional. Eating local is easy and there are family owned and operated establishments throughout every inch of this town. I dare you to try as many as you possibly can while visiting Houston. Additionally you can book a food tour here!
Enjoy a Beer at One of the Local Breweries

Houstonians do love their beer and they know a thing or two about it, or at least the growing number of up and coming breweries all over town seems to make one believe. Visiting these breweries is definitely one of the fun things to do in Houston. One of our favorites is 8th Wonder Brewery, because of the beer, the atmosphere and the unique Beatles sculpture in the backyard. It’s quite fitting for the brewery since the sculpture is a wonder in and of itself. The set up in the back is great for hanging with family and friends and they are dog friendly as well. If you’d like a more comprehensive list of all the breweries in Houston, check out this great article by the folks at the Beer Chronicle.
